						TAPAS 101: In Spanish cuisine, tapas, refer to a wide variety of appetizers, small plate or snacks. They may be cold (such as mixed olives and cheese) or warm (such as paella, and empanadas). In North America and the United Kingdom, tapas have evolved into an entire cuisine. In these countries, patrons of tapas restaurants can order many different tapas and combine them to make a full meal. Tapas encourage conversation so that people are not so focused upon eating large meals with minimal interaction. Also, in some countries it is customary for diners to stand and move about while eating tapas. At Carmens we encourage people to get up and look around and perhaps you’ll see someone you know.
						Carmens Description: Carmens de la Calle Cafe is a colorful European inspired cafe with live entertainment every weekend. Lit with lights, vintage lamps, and candlelight we provide an intimate cozy ambiance with music, flavorful tapas, and our famous house made sangria. Come join us and expect to try new things, meet new people and discover one of San Antonio's best kept secrets.
								We open at 6:00 p.m. and close at Midnight. Starting in January 2010 we will have two flamenco shows on Friday. The first show starts at 8:00 p.m. and ends at 9:30. The second show starts at 10:00 p.m. and ends at 11:30. CASH COVER THUR, FRI & SAT SEE CALENDAR FOR AMOUNT. Our Thursday and Saturday shows start at 8:30 p.m. and end anywhere between 11:30-midnight. Every Thursday is Jazz night, Friday is Flamenco night, and Saturday is World music night.
								"Dine only" customers should plan to arrive before 7:30 to allow time to finish their meal. Cover charge starts at 7:30. However, its not unusual for "dine only" customers to change their mind once they see and hear the fun starting.

								Yes, we serve food! Enjoy yourself to some of our delicious tapas. All food and drink orders are placed at the bar for your conveniences and each dish will be brought to you as it is prepared.
								We are a wine & beer bar only, and of course we have our famous house made Sangria. "No children under 16 after 8pm."
								Celebrations? We love Carmenites to have group celebrations with us. If you bring your own cake just remember to bring paper plates and forks. Please call ahead to let us know if your party is larger than five.
